Featured products: Circle Tiles and Arrow Dies – Pattern #311 and #340
To show off the Circle Tiles and Arrow Dies I have chosen Pattern # 311 a pinwheel style pattern one of our newest patterns. I thought it was perfect for showing off our circle tile and pattern # 340 (just slightly different from pattern # 311) was perfect for allowing me to use the Arrow Die as a journaling spot!
The Fresh Cream Grid is a beautiful shade of yellow and I thought it would be a nice compliment to the varying greens from the garden. I’ve used Bazzill dotted Swiss colors in green and yellow as accents and mats. I used MM Robin’s Egg Paper Tiles and ran them through a Swiss dot embossing folder so that they would match the other tiles.
I’ve used wood shapes for accents and instead of leaving them natural this time I thought I’d bring out my Twinkling H2O’s water colors to paint them up a bit to add a little bright spots with a little bit of glimmer to catch your eye.
I’ve used the circle tile a few ways on page one. The first way is as a frame on top of the large 3×3 block photos. On one, the close up of the rubber plant leaf, I actually cut the photo and embedded the photo to the frame.
The third way I used the die was to highlight a photo by cutting the photo and using the whole photo as a frame and to pop up the center of the photo for a layered look. I used foam mounting tape and inked the edge of the photo. I’ve seen greeting cards stamped in layers and always thought I’d like a way to do that on a scrapbook page…I think this might be one way to do that.
On page two (Pattern #340) I used the 2×3 block arrow die in place of a 2×3 sq. rectangle. I arranged the photos so that the arrow would point to the photos that were being journaled about.
On page two I also trimmed a postcard I had purchased to use as a title block.
It wasn’t until page two I decided that I needed another color in addtion to the yellow and green I began with on page one. When I added the postcard title block I looked for a color to pick up and incorporate. I liked the aqua butterfly and the muted colors of the dragonfly. The Robin’s Egg Paper Tiles were a good fit and I used it on both pages.
If you are looking for a quick layout idea I think you will love this pattern and if you’d like to highlight photos with the circle tiles and arrow dies you will find it perfect to try several ways. With or without embellishments it just may become your go to pattern!!
